Mikvah Luach

Privacy Policy

This policy describes how Mikvah Luach (“the app”) handles information. The app is a private Jewish calendar for tracking taharah milestones. It is not a medical device and does not sell personal data. The same text is shown in the app under Settings → Privacy Policy.

Information the app processes

  • Account: email address and authentication identifiers if you create an account.
  • User ID: a random account identifier used to sign you in, sync sharing, and attach a premium purchase to the same Apple ID.
  • Device ID: RevenueCat may use the vendor identifier so a subscription can be restored on this iPhone or iPad.
  • Cycle and calendar content: period, Hefsek, Mikvah, and related dates you enter. These stay on this device unless you turn on sharing, iCloud backup, or an encrypted file backup.
  • Partner sharing: if you create or join a shared calendar, cycle history for that calendar is stored on Mikvah Luach’s servers (Supabase) so the invited partner can see it.
  • Location: used on-device for sunrise, sunset, nightfall, and optional nearby mikvah search. You may choose a city manually instead.
  • Nearby mikvah search: the app can download the public mikvah.org directory and show those names on screen. That search does not open a webpage.
  • Photos: optional invitation photos. On-device text recognition is the default. If you enable ChatGPT enhancement, a compressed copy of the photo and recognized text are sent to OpenAI for that scan. The app does not keep the upload on our servers.
  • Microphone and speech: optional voice commands, processed on this device.
  • Device calendars: optional read-only display of calendars already on the iPhone, and optional export of selected Mikvah dates to a calendar you choose.
  • SMS reminders: if you enroll, a phone number and reminder choices are sent to our servers and to Twilio to deliver the texts you requested. Recipients must confirm opt-in. STOP/START handling follows carrier rules.
  • Purchases: Apple processes subscriptions. After a 30-day trial, Premium is $5.99 a month or $45.99 a year. RevenueCat may receive an opaque App Store transaction identifier so premium features can be checked. We do not receive your full Apple ID password or card number.
  • Diagnostics: the app does not run third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

Health-related information

Cycle dates are treated as sensitive. They are not used for advertising. They are shared only with a partner you invite, with iCloud if you enable it, or in an encrypted backup you export.

Retention and deletion

On-device data remains until you delete it or remove the app. Server account data is kept while the account exists. Use Delete Account in Settings to erase the Mikvah Luach account and associated server data (shared membership, private backups, SMS enrollment). Apple subscriptions are managed separately in Apple ID subscription settings.

Your choices

You can refuse location, camera, microphone, speech, calendar, and Face ID permission. You can use the app without SMS, ChatGPT, iCloud, or sharing. The 30-day trial and subscriptions do not require you to accept those optional services.
